  1. How do I allow pop ups in McAfee internet security?

    Answer: To allow Nightingale On Demand to launch, follow these steps:

    →A popup window will display an 'object required' error message. This message can be avoided by disabling the popup blocker feature in Privacy Service. It can be temporarily disabled by holding down the CTRL key. This will override the popup blocker while opening new windows.

    →Right-click on the McAfee Internet Security Icon from the taskbar

    →Select, Open SecurityCenter

    To unblock pop-ups:

    →On the SecurityCenter Home pane, click Internet & Network.

    →In the Internet & Network information section, click Configure.

    →On the Internet & Network Configuration pane, click Advanced under Web browsing protection.

    →On the Ad, Pop-up, & Web Bug Blocking pane, deselect the Block pop-up windows from appearing when you browse the Internet check box.

    →Click OK.

  2. How do I allow pop ups in Norton Internet Security

    Answer: To allow Nightingale On Demand to launch, follow these steps.

    →Right-click on the Norton Internet Security Icon from the taskbar.

    →Select, Open Norton Internet Security.

    →Select Norton AntiSpam, Pop-up Blocking, Configure.

    →Select Turn Off, Note you can turn it back on when you are finished with Nightingale On Demand.

  3. How do I allow pop ups in Spyware Doctor

    Answer: To allow Nightingale On Demand to launch, follow these steps

    →Right-click on the Spyware Doctor Icon from the taskbar

    →Select Show/Hide

    →Select OnGuard → Popup Blocker

    →Add Nightingale to the Whitelisted Domains

  4. How do I remove Yahoo?

    Answer: There are two ways to uninstall the Yahoo! Toolbar for Internet Explorer.
    Option 1: Via the toolbar( )

    →Select "Uninstall" from the Pencil button (Toolbar Settings).

    →Click "Uninstall" on the uninstall page.

    →Close any open IE windows.
    When you restart Internet Explorer, Yahoo! Toolbar will no longer be present.

    Option 2: Via the Control Panel

    →Click the Windows "Start" button.

    →Select "Control Panel" from the "Settings" menu.

    →Double-click on "Add/Remove Programs".

    →Scroll down and click on the "Yahoo! Toolbar" entry.

    →Click on "Change/Remove."

    →Close any open IE windows.
    Yahoo! Toolbar is now uninstalled. Please start IE again after closing all your open IE browser windows and it will no longer be present.
    If you follow these steps and Yahoo! Toolbar is still present, make sure you've closed all your open IE browser windows. Due to Internet Explorer being integrated with Windows, you might need to restart your computer to fully uninstall Yahoo! Toolbar

  5. How do I remove Google?

    Answer:  There are two ways this can be done.
    Option 1: Via the toolbar
    Click the down arrow next to the wrench icon on your Google Toolbar. If you don't see a wrench icon, then you likely have an older version installed. Instead, click the Settings button on the right side of the Toolbar.
    Choose Uninstall, or Help > Uninstall.
    Optional: Add comments about your experience with the Toolbar.
    Click Uninstall the Google Toolbar.

    When you restart Internet Explorer, Google! Toolbar will no longer be present.


    Option 2: Uninstall from the Control Panel

    Click the Windows Start menu in the lower-left corner of your screen.
    Select Control Panel.
    Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
    Select Google Toolbar for IE.
    Click the Remove button.

    Google Toolbar is now uninstalled. Please start IE again after closing all your open IE browser windows and it will no longer be present.
    If you follow these steps and Google Toolbar is still present, make sure you've closed all your open IE browser windows. Due to Internet Explorer being integrated with Windows, you might need to restart your computer to fully uninstall Google Toolbar

  6. How do I clear my internet cache and temporary files?

    Answer: Please see below.

    Internet Explorer version 6

    →On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

    →Choose the General tab.

    →On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Files button. This will delete all the files that are currently stored in your cache.

    →The Delete Files button

    →Click OK, and then click OK again.

    Internet Explorer version 7

    →From the Tools menu, select Internet Options

    →Choose the General tab.

    →Under Browsing history, click Delete

    →Next to "Temporary Internet Files", click Delete files

    →Click Close, and then click OK to exit.

  7. I cannot load the application after successfully authenticated. The Nightingale logon screen keeps appearing

    Answer: Try the following:

    →Ensure Internet Explorer pop-up blockers are set off. Tools  pop-up Blockers  Turn off pop-up blocker

    →Ensure no 3rd party toolbar is installed (Yahoo, Google) – see how to remove these toolbars instructions.

    →Check for any Internet Security programs to ensure pop-ups are allowed – see documentation on McAfee & Norton

    →Check for Spyware programs to allow pop-ups – see documentation on Spyware Doctor

    →Clear Internet cache and temporary files. Close Internet Explorer. Launch Internet Explorer and try again

    →Ensure the URL you are using has a lower case ‘/nic/’ after the domain name (i.e. https://ont.nightgingale.md/nic/loginsplit.asp)

  8. Why is Javascript access denied?

    Answer: This appears because of a momentary loss of internet conection and as such a call to a page that was on the left which was not loaded properly failed because javascript is not allowed to call across frames if they are not on the same domain, which the error page on the left is not the same as from our application

  9. A dialog appears and wants to install csimagecab.cab, what do I do?

    Answer: If the user receives this popup, they do not have the proper access locally to install

    Answer: Go to Internet Explorer - Tools - Internet Options - Security - Trusted Sites - Custom Level - Enable - Allow script-initiated windows without size or position constraints.

    Answer: Open Internet Explorer, go to File - Page Setup - Clear Header Field

  12. Printing results have a grey background.

    Answer: This can be addressed by choosing not to print the background when printing. This will print the item all on white, and eliminate this issue.  Go to,  Internet Explorer – tools – Internet Options – Advanced - Under the “Printing” category do not check “Print background colours and images”

  14. Page content is not refreshing or updating properly

    Answer: You can change the cache settings in Internet Explorer that change how temporary Internet files are used to improve browsing performance.

    →Internet Explorer 6.0 - Tools – Internet Options – Temporary Internet Files – Settings –
    o Select Every visit to the page

    →Empty Internet Explorer 7 Cache when Browser is Closed. to enable this setting in Internet Explorer 7.0, just go to the Tools \ Internet Options menu, and then click on the Advanced tab. Make sure you check the checkbox for "Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed

  15. Application loads with blank page

    Answer: Add Nightingale web address to trusted sites.  Go to Internet Explorer – tools – internet options – security – trusted sites & add both secure and non-secure address.

  16. Pop up keeps appearing “This page contains both secure and non secure items”

    Answer: Active X - under the Miscellaneous section change the section under Display Mixed Content to “Enable” – Internet Explorer 6 in Trusted Sites.  For Internet Explorer 7 – ensure the setting is done for the Internet site as the Trusted Site does not work (A Microsoft bug)

    Answer: Go to Internet Options, Security, highlight trusted sites, and click default. Then add the site you are on you your trusted sites
