Corporate Controller - Markham ON

We are currently looking for a highly motivated Controller to join our Finance & Administration team in our head office in Markham, Ontario.  Nightingale offers a fast-paced, innovative environment that will challenge your business acumen and tune your technical aptitude.

The successful candidate will contribute to the Finance Department initiatives by supporting senior team members with the following activities:

  • Leading the finance staff through daily functions from month end close to preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements, analysis and quarterly public filings including MD&A.
  • Oversight of Invoicing\Receivables, Disbursements\Payables, and Payroll cycles including stock compensation and commissions.
  • Cash management and forecasting.
  • Bank reporting, ratio and covenant analysis.
  • Income, sales, and payroll tax compliance, SRED claim support.
  • Preparation and review of G\L account reconciliations.
  • Liaison with external auditors, co-ordinate preparation and review of working papers, as required.
  • Provide support to business unit managers for analysis and understanding of financial results and variances.
  • Drive business process improvement initiatives for improved financial reporting, internal control, asset management and team efficiency.
     

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with 3-5 years progressive senior accounting experience in a public company environment and will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Professional accounting designation as well as previous experience with public company reporting.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years progressive senior accounting experience.
  • Comprehension of Canadian GAAP and issues specific to technology companies and software companies combined with a keen interest to embrace IFRS.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills, self-motivated, ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong management, coaching and staff development skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment, excellent organizational skills and ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Experience with multi-jurisdiction organizational structures – consolidating and presenting financial information, multi-currency reporting and treasury, cross-border taxation issues.
  • Knowledge of an integrated ERP system and ERP system conversion experience is an asset.  Knowledge of NetSuite or Great Plains also an asset. Committed work ethic.
