We are currently looking for a highly motivated Database Administrator to join our Information Technology team.  Nightingale offers a fast-paced, innovative environment that will challenge your technical aptitude. The successful candidates will contribute to Nightingale business initiatives by supporting team members with the following activities:    

  • Responsible for ensuring availability and performance of production, staging and development databases
  • Work to ensure that the associated hardware resources are allocated to the databases and to ensure high resilience and performance tuning
  • To proactively monitor the production database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime
  • Responsible for providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding capacity management.
  • Detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
  • Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgrades.
  • Responsible for implementation and release of database changes according to agreed timescales
 
The ideal candidates will be highly motivated Database Administrator, with at least 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably in the healthcare field, and will possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science
  • 5+ years of experience supporting MS SQL Server environments.
  • Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server (2000, 2005 and 2008 )
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving issues with database integrity, performance, blocking and deadlocking, replication, transaction logs, connectivity and security.
  • Experience in Performance Tuning and Query Optimization.
  • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
  • Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, Clustering, Database mirroring and Replication.
  • Experience in implementing automation of manual tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of indexes, index management and integrity checks.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server tools ( Profiler, DTA, SSMS, SAC, SSCM, PerfMon, DMVs, system sprocs)
  • Ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design ( stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints )
  • MCDBA / MCT certification
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple high priority activities.
