We are seeking an experienced Operations Team Lead to join our IT organization in the IT Operations area.

ROLE
Reporting to the VP, IT Operations. The role of the IT Operations Team Lead is to execute ongoing activities and procedures required to manage and maintain the IT infrastructure and deliver IT support services at established service levels to our customers. The key focus of this role is to ensure optimal performance, reliability, availability and security of the company’s data and IT infrastructure

The IT Operations Team Lead must actively work with and communicate with the various stakeholders within and outside the IT organization. This will require strong communications skills, both written and verbal, while exerting a positive influence and working collaboratively with IT and Business teams, to ensure the success of projects and initiatives. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple high priority activities, together with the ability to provide creative and effective solutions to problems rapidly, on an ongoing basis, is a must to succeed.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The IT Operations Team Lead will be responsible for day-to-day operations of IT Infrastructure, encompassing server and storage environments, networks, phone systems, development and QA platforms, desktops and related technologies and services. This also includes management, monitoring, reporting and documentation of all aspects of the IT infrastructure and operational activities.


Specific responsibilities include

  • Develop and maintain in depth skills in infrastructure operations, system implementations and operational process and procedures
  • Define and deliver continuous improvement in operational processes, including but not limited to service level, capacity, availability and IT service continuity
  • Maintain accurate IT asset inventories and up to date systems and operations documentation
  • Proactively monitor, evaluate and manage all firmware, patch and service pack updates for existing hardware, operating systems, management tools and various applications (such as MS Office, MS SQL and VMWARE)
  • Design and implement network infrastructure to support Corporate and customer applications
  • Continuously monitor IT environment, with close attention to capacity and performance
  • Contribute to the tactical planning and direction of IT infrastructure and overall improvement of all service deliveries
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations on emerging products and services that Nightingale can leverage to maintain competitive advantage in the industry
  • Share knowledge and mentor team members
  • Provide Tier 2 & Tier 3 technical support and troubleshooting to external customers, Helpdesk, internal Development and QA teams
  • Participation on 24x7 on call rotational roster
     

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent industry experience with 6-8 years field experience, the last 3 years in leadership roles, working in an extremely fast paced IT environment.   Relevant working experience in systems implementation and managing multiple data centre environments applying Microsoft technology is also required. Industry specific qualifications held would be.

  • MCSE, MCP or MCTS certification
  • VMWare Certified Professional (VCP)
  • CCNA or CCNP

The successful candidate has a broad knowledge covering infrastructure architecture, solution design, implementation and operational support in the following.

  • N-Tier hosting architectures
  • High availability solutions (clustering, load balancing, auto failover designs)
  • Server Virtualization (VMWARE ESX, Vmotion)
  • Storage (NAS, SAN, NetApps, Fiber, iSCSI, HBA configurations)
  • Network components (Netscreen Firewalls, F5 Load balancers, caching appliances)

  • Directory services (Microsoft AD)
