Senior Software Developer - Markham ON

We are currently looking for a highly motivated Sr. Software Developer to join our Research & Development (R&D) team in our head office in Markham, Ontario.  Nightingale offers a fast-paced, innovative environment that will challenge your business acumen and tune your technical aptitude.

The successful candidate will contribute to Nightingales business initiatives by supporting team members with the following activities:

• Interpret written business requirements and technical specification documents
• Perform coding to written technical specifications
• Investigate, analyze and document reported defects
• Perform maintenance programming and correction of identified defects
• Create, document, and implement unit test plans, scripts, and test harnesses
• Create and maintain technical documentation using defined templates
• Performs related duties as assigned
• Understand the benefits of the various programming languages
• Possesses significant knowledge of client server and internet systems architectures

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with 5 + years of software development experience and will possess the following skills and attributes:

• BA/BS or MS degree in Software Development or related areas of study from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience
• Solid knowledge in ASP Classic including other Microsoft web technologies such as ASP.NET, .NET 1.1, 2.0, 3.5
• Solid knowledge of MS SQL Server MS SQL Server 2005/2008 & Visual Studio 2008/2005
• Highly motivated and ‘Out of the Box Thinker’
• Solution Centric
• Must be professional, articulate and able to achieve goals with moderate supervision.
• Ability to manage challenges that are frequently complex, conceptual and long-term in nature.
• Works well under stressful situations, not losing focus and able to handle multiple high-priority issues
