What will happen if I do not have a modifier on a claim?
Answer: If there are no modifiers entered for a claim, the system will recognize all modifiers as acceptable to the carrier. This list is referenced by the system when compiling a charge before it is sent.
-
How are Medigap claims handled?
Answer: Currently Medigap insurance is only available to certain eligible patients if Medicare is their primary carrier. After a claim has been processed by the Medicare carrier, any remaining balance is forwarded to the Medigap insurance carrier automatically. Each Medicare carrier will assign a different Medigap ID number to the Medigap carrier.
-
Can you make an insurance carrier permanent?
Answer: Yes, you can make an insurance carrier permanent. All insurers are marked as temporary when added to the system from the Registration module; these temporary insurance listings are automatically given an ID, which includes an asterisk (*) and a number, by the system. Since permanent insurance carrier listings cannot have an asterisk in them, you must change the insurance carrier ID when making a temporary listing permanent. After you make a temporary insurance carrier permanent, the carrier’s name appears in the Insurance Directory.
-
How do you search for an insurance carrier by name?
Answer: To search for a carrier by name, type one or more letters of the company name in the Name box at the bottom of the Carriers window, and press the Enter key. The results of the search appear in the box for the list that is currently being viewed.
-
Can a deleted patient record be restored?
Answer: The Restore button only appears when you access a patient’s record that has been flagged for deletion. You can restore a record that has been flagged for deletion, but not yet deleted.
-
How are discounts handled?
Answer: Discounts are taken after sliding fees are applied and before out of pocket deductions are taken, if applicable. They can be either a dollar amount or a percentage of the amount due. If the discount is a dollar amount, the write off will never exceed the amount due on a charge. Discounts are applied to the amount due when the amount due becomes the patient’s responsibility regardless of whether or not the patient has insurance. More than one discount can be applied to each patient’s record.
-
Is it possible to modify procedure details for a patient?
Answer: You can modify any of the procedures you selected on the Procedure Entry window. To modify the procedures, access the Procedure Details window.
